The Brisbane CBD is 13 kilometres away from the Brisbane Airport (both domestic and international) in an Entrans People Mover or Minibus and is easily navigable even for the first-time visitor. The scenic route is along Kingsford Smith Drive which takes you along the Brisbane River for part of the Journey, past the Brett’s Wharf development, Breakfast Creek Hotel, Entrans People Mover & Minibus Rental office in Montpelier Road at Bowen Hills and then straight through The Valley & Brisbane City toward the Storey Bridge and head for the South East Freeway, 60 minutes later, you should be in the heart of the Gold Coast.

Brisbane still has a laid back feel about it compared to other capital cities, lots to see and do. The River Cats are a unique way of seeing Brisbane from the river, get an all day transport pass and you can get on and off the Cats where you like as well as the buses for a reasonable outlay.

Our favourite place to eat is on the outskirts of Brisbane at a little place called Samford Valley; there you will find the “Samford Valley Hotel”.

The Hotel was established in 1906 in Main Street at Samford and has gone through a lot of changes in that time until recently purchased by Mr Les Poulos who tastefully refurbished the restaurant area into a magnificent family friendly environment, including a huge kids area out the back that has a large safe enclosed area for the energetic kids and an electronics games room as well to keep all amused.

Winner of the 2004 QHA Awards for Excellence, Best Redeveloped Hotel / Tavern under $1 million and a finalist in the “Best Casual Dining” category.

Peter Dyett and Julie Warner are your hosts, genuine, down to earth people and great active supporters of the local community, along with their great staff will serve you the coldest Beer, an extensive Wine selection and the best Steaks in Brisbane as well as popular Seafood dishes.

It’s one of the few Hotels that we know of close to any major city with a stock yard to tie your horse up while you have a feed or a drink.
